bsteves came down to pick up his truck & fishing stuff, so we took him out to his one last trip in NorCal water for a long time (I know I said that before... :smt002)!
We left 0500 from Bodega Bay on Saturday, but we took a wrong way (no we didn't ask for the directions), so we got to Putah creek resort a lil after 8am... :smt009
We fished for awhile, but the wind started picking up pretty bad, so we called a day. :|  We all got different variety of fish but nothing big tho... :smt012  By the time, I got back to the ramp, whitecaps showing up & few feet of swell hitting on the shore...  In the lake??? :smt104  That was pretty crazy...
We took nice back road on the way back.  It was pretty hard on my car w/ Jim's yak trailer, but we made it in 2hrs!
It was nice get together again & hopefully won't be the last... :smt006

Here is the video...

We were just going for anything...  I took bsteves & inseine there because they had never been there before.  We're trolling minnows & crawlers, casting rapalas & castmasters.

yeah, they charge $12 but it was three of us, and they had a big enough boat ramp to park & drop the yaks right on water, so it was worse it.

You can also launch from the Pope Creek bridge area, across the street from the parking lot, under an unmarked gate and down the hill to the shoreline, but you need wheels. It's maybe a quarter mile walk to the water (tougher on the way back up)
Also, right near Putah Creek Resort is a Boy Scout Camp - anybody know if permission can be obtained to launch there? It looks like there might be shore access from that property.

yeah, I don't usually use Putah creek resort when I'm by myself.  I usually launch by  Smittle creek or Capell cove.  Especially, after I got charged $20 at the gate w/out the trailer there... :smt010
The water has been pretty low for using Smittle creek.  Capell cove is still Ok, but there are a lot of Bass boat there even thought in the winter time.  And the both are pretty far from the North ends of the lake where the rivers comes in...

I looked around the Pope creek area before, but the hills around that area are looked pretty naughty tho... :smt012

Naoaki,

Thanks again for the tour of Berryessa.  We didn't catch a lot, but no body got skunked so that's always nice.  I now have my kayaks and fishing gear up here in Portland with me and I'm itching to find some fishing.

Yeah, there's just one way that I know of...it's a fire road to a beach on the lake side itself, then you need to paddle around a point to get into Pope.
I was pulling my gear back to the parking lot at the end of a long day and a young guy in an old, loud 4x4 comes to a stop at the intersection where the lot is and rolls down his window. I was expecting "How'd you do?" but instead he said, "Ain't you got a truck?", then laughed his ass off.

:smt012 if I can launch around there that would be very helpful! :smt001  but I'm still not sure about the place that you're talking about...  Is the paved parking lot w/ the bathroom or some sort on it?  I think I saw some yellow metal gate there, but I didn't think went all way down...  Can you google me somehow?
