AM air temp 57, water temp 60, PM air temp 57, water temp 58.  Wind 5-10 from the west.  Clear but brisk at times, a beautiful fall day.  Trolled from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM from the buoys off the ramp to Vanados Campground and back, several times.  Had three hits, one just a bump and two hooked.  Fought a Rainbow, about 24”, up to the side of the kayak and it spit the lure.  He made five or six good runs.  I have to tire out the bigger ones more, but I get anxious.  Don’t have my rubber net yet, its been on order since the 9th.  Landed and released a 16” Rainbow, 1 lb, 11 oz.  All the hits were opposite the Hetch Hetchy campground on a Rapala J7 in Firetiger with red EWG hooks, 90 feet back at 1.85 ground speed.  I was the only kayaker out, but there were several canoes and about 8 PBs.  Lures that didn’t work were a SR in Shad and an F7 in Rainbow.  Ya’ll have a great Thanksgiving!

Great  Bass 2,

Thanks for the invite, I think I will join ya’ll.  Sad to say, I had a cabin in Arnold for close to 20 years and never fished New Melones.  Now, I’ll get my chance.  Does everyone meet at Glory Hole or what, or will details follow on the New Melones Trout Derby thread?

Grizz,

Still have a contact in Arnold and I used to live there for 11 years. Loved to hit Melones when the bass started to spawn. I got some big ones out of there and a lot of them. It was a great lake to call home. Sure wish I had a kayak back then.

Won't be able to do the derby because of prior commitments, but to all of you that do, good luck, dress warm and tight lines!!!

Action is ACTION! thanks for the XTRA-DETAILS in your report, something I will try to remember to do/log and report in future posts. gettin them trout to BITE and then HANG-ON, for that matter(many mile, not many trout for me), is a VICTORY!!  I've got to give those Firetiger patterns more time!

....again,great report!
