Perfect conditions early today but still slow. The hordes of bass that were in shallows last week are hunkered deep and you have to work for them.  Fished the super sized senko, ghost swim bait, and a texas style crawcreature for very few of the bucketmouth. Fish of the day was on the brown/orange creature wiggled/crawled painfully slow. Some smaller fish were taken on the wacky greenpumpkin senko on rock walls. Felt the pressure change on the water this afternoon and it turned off completely. Even my consistant evening colors couldnt seduce a victim.
Also witnessed a mink nab a bait fish and scurry back into the rocks.

I agree.

Terry, how is the bass bite in December?  I have a week off around xmas, and I was thinking about making first trip to Clear Lake.  I heard the crappie bite is outrageous in Dec, but I want to catch one of those toads.

I am heading up to Clear Lake tonight.  Unfortunately I will not have my yak, but I plan to fish anyway.  If I have a bad day like hydrospider I will not mind at all.

Ill try to get a few photos of the otters up here. Some of them are HUGE! they roam in packs and at night they are a little more brazen on the water. When they show up I usually just stop fishing and move on.

Got back out there today and it was even slower. Cold winds and alot of chop. My slow presentations werent working so I switched to a lipless crank, in a bluegill flavor, and started fishing aggressively and nabbed a few in the 2# range. I believe the front coming in has knocked them down. We will see what tommorrow holds.

OK, perhaps I should clarify. The fish du jour was very exciting and the day was in no way bunk. But I spent HOURS out there with times that had a few hours between fish. This just isnt what I was hoping for this fall, especially after what I had witneesed a week before.

Adam,
I caught the photo op off of the same area that I had blasted off to and nabbed the victim, on a first sling, when we fished RP that banner morning. The water is way low but that place still holds good fish.

As far as what december holds, only time will tell, but Id save my vacation or PTO days until the spring.
