I fished Clear Lake with my wife in a tandem on 11/11 and 11/12. On the first day, we launched at Clear Lake State Park and shot at Kelsey Creek. But the water was only a few feet deep. So we launched again after lunch at Braito(?) Marina at Buckingham Park. Found fish in 10-15' of water. We used live jumbo minnows in a split shot and also slow trolled as well. We got three bass to 3.5 lbs on 11/11 and 5 averaging 2.5 lbs on 11/12. The memorable moment was when I had a 10 lbs catfish on 8lb line, two other rods went off with nice bass. My wife franticaly asked for advice. She managed to land both fish with my net job and I landed my catfish afterwards. That was sweet.

Thanks to Hydrospider for his pointers. I always enjoying reading his reports and learnt a lot.  I would love to go back to Clear Lake when the crappie bite is on.

Fishbear and the NCKA at large,
It warms my soul to hear that you had a good experience fishing C-lake and PLEASE shoot me a PM whenever you are planning another trip up here. Even if you are not interested in fishing with me. I am very fortunate to know/watch football with, some crafty C-lake guides and pros that help me with a broader perspective on this everchanging fishery. You chose wisely going with the live minner.
The live minner is what will put fish in the boat right now. Sunday I witnessed alot of long faces except for the guides that had put minners on the hooks of their clients.
As far as the crappie bite goes I heard its ON along hwy 20 ,close to Glenhaven, and around the usual crappie haunts like Shag Rock.
Fishbear, you made another great call by moving to braitos for the launch. In the spring, when water levels are higher, this place can get UNHINGED! and its protected from the wind.
The deeper southside is where the fish are ,and it is much more fun to fish.(opinion alert!)
I am also a true believer in the tandem for fishing/paddling. My first real kayak/fishing experience was tandem and we fished streams with 1 person paddling and the guy in front fishing every hole he could. great way to surf too.
Congrats on the LMs and the BIG kitten.
