G' day,
We're finally going to go fishing at Lake Mendocino on Saturday.  The thing is.... I've never fished Mendo or even tried for stripers.  And I will have my 16 year old son and his friend with me.  We've fished for trout and LMB and done pretty well.
I've read all the threads on bendo and Bill's great article.  But, I still have a few questions like... where can I get minnows on a Saturday, not too early I have to work until 3AM that morning.  Also, where on the lake is a decent place to start.
We don't need to catch a bazillion fish, but a few good ones would be great.

Thanks for any info,
Greg

Take the Lake Mendocino Drive off ramp, vier right onto Lake Mendocino Drive to the stop light. Turn LEFT (North) onto State Street. At the next light (Lake Mendocino Drive again) turn RIGHT onto Lake Mendocino Drive and go for just under one mile. There is a small store called Lake Mendocino General at the intersection of Lake Mendocino Drive and Eastside Road. They have minnows.

Get back on Lake Mendocino Drive and continue East to the lake. When you see the boat ramp, take the dirt road at the top of the ramp. There will be a bunch of white concrete barricades that will stop you from driving all of the way to the lake. Park in the turn around area and drag, carry, or cart your kayaks to the water and launch. Don't worry about moving your car from the barricade area.

Nose hook a minnow with a split shot weight about 18" above the hook. Let out about 50 pulls of line (50 feet) and paddle about 1.5 MPH (slow paddle) and wait for the bendo.

Enjoy!

Thank you guys.  Hopefully, we'll be out there about noonish.  Wife will be out of town so I don't even have to spend any WAF points.  Might even gain some since we won't be messing up the house.
