started by waking up at 5.30am loaded and on the road by 6 picked up my nonyaking buddy (he rented a boat) at 6.45 on the water by 7am, there was a thick fog covering the glass like lake. started trolling a silver rapala trolled around the island for about an hour with no love :smt011 so switched to a 1/4 ounce silver castmaster trolled for another hour with still no love, so began flylining a crawler and still no action there were fish jumping everywere in front of me behind me splash splash everywere but no takers  :smt013 then i saw two fish jump clear out the water and they were crap/carp :smt011. by now its 11am and the fog is beginning to burn off. i tried on a 1/4 ounce little cleo in firetiger pattern, i flung my first rod behind me that had a rapala on it i grab my other rod and right before i cast it on the opposite side i see a trout fin folllowed by a jump all this only five feet from the left side if the yak :smt007 :smt007!!! i lobbed my cleo right were the fish had jumped give one turn of the reel and BANGGGG!!!!! FISH ON!!!!! YEA!!!!! two seconds later POP FISH GONE  :smt013. i regained composure after few choice words  :smt013 and started trolling again, in the next 2 hours or so i must have missed 5 or 6 good bites :smt013 the hooks just weren't sticking but at least i know what they want to eat now!!! finally as i troll towards the back i get hooked up in honkers bay fight the fish for a minute and then flipped him in the boat YAYA :smt007 FIRST TROUT OF THE SEASON AFTER 3 DAYS AND A GOOD 30 HOURS  :smt001 . the fish was nothing special but got that gorilla off my back  (that started as a small monkey but after 30 hours had grown to gorilla status) fished another couple of hours with no more love. all in all a great day to be on the water!!! pics to come when i get home

Glad you hooked your first trout WTG  :smt004. I'm looking forward to my first attempt on a kayak as soon as the rock fishing gets shut down.

I'll bet it was the sweetest tasting trout ever.  Am I right?

A trout is one of my favorite meals, baked potato on the side, or over rice...  mmm
