Are some companies kayaks considered to have better hatches than others (as far as leakage is concerned)?

I'm suprised there haven't been more responses. Aren't some hatches more leak resistant than others?

If you are talking about add on hatches I like the twist latch style that lifts out. The screw type are a pain to use if they get sand in them. Not many choices available.
Factory kayak hatches -Tupperware style, lightweight, sealing surface has to be watched, needs tight fitting rubber gasket with no boogers.I usually take of nylon straps and put on bungie instead.
Latch style- heavy but seals mechanically, hatches usually don't leak, the install surfaces will (hatch to kayak). Glued in hatch seal holds up longer than rubber gaskets.
They all work, but fit and finish from boat to boat is a big factor.
