on a rod, reel, rod & reel because the company you work for gives you $250 for your five year anniversary.

Do you get a spiffy Avet and blow the whole thing?

A decent Abu Garcia and decent jigging rod?

What?

Thanks for the advice.

Good question. I just spent about that much last week on a Abu Inshore and a Lamaglass 8'6" salmon/steelhead rod. I got the reel for $210 and the rod for $53.

Haven't caught a fish on it yet, but it sure looks and casts well.

Good luck on your choice!

Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

It's the:

Rock Creek Series IM7 AC86H
by Lamiglas 8'6"  1/2 - 1 3/4 oz.   12 - 25 lb. line.

It's a 2 piece rod. It was marked $70 but when it rang up, the receipt showed a sale price of $53.

CHEERS!

I'm in the same boat as Mahi on this one. I just got a cash award from work and I spent $190 to pick up an Abu Revo Inshore and I paired it with a Shimano Clarus Hotshot Rod, 8', 1/2-5 oz, 12-25lb line rating. I'll also be using this on my plugging rod which is 8' 6", 8-17 test, MH.

There's a good idea. Erik built me a saltwater kayak rod last winter, I had a great
time with that thing this year. lots of little things he does add up to a kayak
fishing rod with no equal.

Where did you get the Revo Inshore for $190?  Online?

I bought it online through a seller on Ebay. It came in quick and it's exactly as described: brand new.

Here's the link. I think he has one more lefty available and he also has some RH reels too. He sells it for $180 plus $9 shipping.

Yeah, I've seen them on eBay.  In fact I found one just yesterday where the starting bid is $0.99.  Still a few days to go on that one.

I'm just a little gun-shy about purchasing on eBay.  It seems like there are always different scams happening even though I know there are tons of guys on the board that have got great deals.

My other fear is that if something happens to the product, I won't have any store to take it back too.  I know I can deal with the maker, but it is so much easier to take it back to a store.

That said, I'm not a complete dinosaur.  I don't mine purchasing online through reputable stores i.e. Best Buy, Circuit City, Fisherman's Wharehouse, etc.
