The time has come to get something a little bigger. I want to be able to take my grandbaby fishing but I figure that by the time he is old enough to go out on the kayak, I’ll be too old. I went with a Boston Whaler Montauk 150. It came with electric downriggers and an I pilot link trolling motor so it’s ready to fish. It should do fine in the ocean if I only go out when conditions are similar to what are safe for kayaking. Also I’m hoping my son will be ok on the ocean because he won’t kayak for a fear of sharks. I’ve been using an electric powered kayak for a while so it’s not a big change. Just a little bigger and a lot faster. I suppose I’ll end up selling my two electric powered Wilderness Radar kayaks unless I decide to keep them just in case. I’ll still be fishing with the kayaks so I hope to see you OTW.

Wide like a bonafide kayak... glass like a Stealth... and a beach cart that's so heavy duty you can pull it on the road. These new fishing kayaks are rad but I fear I would be a little small and weak to cartop it. That's a me-issue, though.

All jokes aside, I've got a massive soft spot for whalers... they just inspire confidence better than most vessels. My dad's revenge 21 has been through many many nasty days on SF bay and surrounding areas, and it always felt like a way bigger boat than it was.
