Sun 10/21 Marin islands

saw nate on his way over to the islands. I headed along the brickyard shore into increasingly muddy water. Bailed from that and headed straight to the islands trolling a chartreuse hair raiser.
bout midway between san pedro pt and the islands picked up a skinny barely keeper - what the heck was he doing out there?
made my way between the islands, and did a lap of E island for nothing.

came back between and picked up a dink trolling- then another.
started drifting just in time for two @@sholes in a little aluminum to troll right thru. that put the bite down.
they left, and i started casting again- picked up another on a white hairraiser- this one closer to 20 than 18"

another whaler puled in drifting and casting...
got another dinky dinky.

I ended up with 4 landed- and two dropped- including one that felt really nice.

Those guys in the aluminum were total aholes...haven't had that kind of behavior before out there.

Sorry the knuckleheads bothered your time on the water. They'll get there's. Karma's a mutha when she's pissed!
Good you got on the fish though. Way to stick it out!

Nice job, Steve.  I saw you driving out around 7:30 and still working the islands around 1pm when I was heading out to crew for a sailing race (which was canceled due to lack of wind).  NICE day on the bay!  Way to put in the time! 

Steve......I've never found that motorized trollers have put the bite down.

God knows I've gone long intervels catching no fish for no good reason---regardless----but I have caught lots of fish around "buzzy" marinas, I've even caught fish at Berryessa......!!!.....

I know for a fact that the salmon bite isn't put down by trollers.   Fishing the fall-run Chinook up in Oregon's coastal tidewater......heck......there are nothing BUT trollers, in front, behind, sometimes by both sides.....and people catching fish (usually the TROLLERS) randomly and allabouts.

 sorry I didn't join ya, bummer that those a-#@$@! can't find their own water on a Big bay,

 I tried a run out to the Berkeley Pier after I dropped of the kids,

 all good till I got out there,...... then F#$#@!W@#$ White Caps

  I get back in, load up the yak, start to drive off, look @ the Bay,  Very Mild conditions

 That Bay is really getting the best of me lately.......... Danglin

keep in mind that the water in this area is only 3-8 feet.  I've have seen this before in the shallows in this area. Boaters turning the bite off, while the yakkers nail 'em (ask Chuck about stripers boiling on the rocks in 3 feet couple of springs back).
So, what i think happens is that it just scatters the school- which then takes a while to reform.  The fish are still there, they're just harder to locate until the hunker back down.

Agreed. PB's definitely can turn the bite down. When I was fishing Moutcha Bay BC w/ the NWKA crew some knucklehead in a huge PB decided that it was important to troll through the school that we were jigging on top of. Right away the bite was off and we were back to chasing the school wherever it went. Pole² got OG and told the sucka's to be a little smarter and jig w/ us but they just replied "We all just want to catch fish." Glad karma's a real bitch. We continued to find the fish and they kept striking out.
