I'm visiting mom in San Jose this week and want to hit a good store for fishing supplies for in-shore ocean fishing (mostly jigging for lingcod, rockfish, etc., that I do on the Mendo coast (swimbait, jigheads, this-and-that).

I'm in Willow Glen but can drive wherever.

Recommendations?

Thanks,

James

(PS -- I tried the stickied supplies link but most of the  listings are too old to be relevant (closed, moved, etc.)

My 2 favorite fishing tackle stores in San Jose.

If you go to Bass Pro, get yourself a Moon Pie.

Not sure what route you’re taking to get here…..but if you’re able to make it through Fairfield, the fisherman’s warehouse there is probably the best in the greater Bay Area.

And since you’re in town, Coyote bait and tackle is always worth a drive.

I'm already in SJ so I hit Fishery Supply. Wow, truly amazing selection, especially for a little mom and pop place. Prices were $$$ for what I was looking for, though: $4.50 for a 4-ounce jig head. $5 for a 7" swimbait. Cheaper back home in little Fort Bragg.

Hit Bass Pro next -- we all know what they're about, but what they're not about is 4 oz. jig heads -- none. Biggest they had was 2 oz., which... no, not useful. Pretty good deal on some big swimbait, so at least I got that out of the way for the season.

Since Fisherman’s Warehouse and Mel Cotton’s closed, there are no reasonably-priced options in SJ. But Coyote has a lot of good stuff that’s hard to find elsewhere—I’d go there a lot more often if it was more convenient.
