Kayak crabbing is a lot of work... I spent 4-5 hours on the water yesterday, Saturday 11/29, didn't get a single Dungeness crab big enough to even measure. I did get 4-5 large rock crabs after 15 pulls and decided to steam them right in the HMB parking lot. They were delicious, fresh as can be. No butter needed. Now I am disgruntled about kayak crabbing. I need to get limits at least once, come on. Never more than 6 dungee for me out of HMB. Tamales? Bodega Bay? Anywhere has to be better than Half Moon Bay right now. Maybe I need more length on my ropes? I have 50-60 feet so I normally drop in 35-45 FOW. Should I target crabs deeper? I guess if this was easy then everyone would be doing it.

My guess is that you are in too close to the jetty. You need to find a place with flat bottom and sand for the Dungeness crab. I would target 50 to 60 feet of water for the Dungeness crabs. I would also target the Thai changes. Just check out some of my videos and just follow what I do and I think you should be fine.  I go into a lot of detail about what I do. Just keep moving your pots around until you find them I— TLA
