Went to Benicia this morning to see if I could recreate the magic of the last outing.
When I got there around 7, no one was fishing on the pier and no kayakers were on the water.
A bad sign - had the fish moved on already?
I went to the spot where I hit that thick school last time and only a couple of fish marked the FF.
I picked up a 19"er and released it, headed west to the point for nada and picked up a shaker on the way back.
Tried the spot again and some small schools were marked. After multiple passes I slowly picked up three more 18"-22" fish. All fish were caught on the A-rig, none on the Rattletrap this time. I also tried trolling a fly on the fly rod but no bites on that.
Not a bad day with 5 fish and 3 or 4 being keepers. I little breezier than expected. Definitely wetsuit season.
I think the bulk of fish may have moved on to Martinez, Sherman, etc. but you never know.

If a seagull poops on you, statistically it was no accident.

Thanks for the report Joe!
They’re still getting the in SF Bay so I feel like Benicia has a bit longer.
If I have time in December, I’m gonna try and get another striper trip in.

Thanks for the report Joe.  I think they must be coming up in small schools, given the sporadic reports the last couple weeks.  If weather on the coast late next week is not favorable, I'm probably gonna fish Benicia again.  I've been thinking about trying Martinez sometime too - some spots not far from the marina look promising.

Appreciate the report Joe!

You're on a Lynx right? Going to drop you an add on FB, wondering if you could hit me up next time you plan on launching here if you're game to meet up and chat a minute beforehand? (or afterward)

I've been thinking about getting one, would be cool to see it up close.  :)
