Have any of y'all considered the Swell Scuppers 12, 14 and 16? Have you paddled them? What do you see as the pros and cons? They look pretty sweet to me.

Good stuff,  I watched a review and I would have one though I'm not looking.  Still love my stealth hatch. :smt006

I got a Scupper 14 a few years ago. Mine was made in S Africa, which might explain some of my disappointment concerning advertised v. actual weight and the variable hull thickness. Now that they're being made in Iowa under the eye of the owner, I'd expect that advertised v. actual weight is closer to agreement.

Issues that I'll chalk up to foreign production aside, the cockpit is super deep to lower the CG and make it more stable (it's very stable btw). This is fine and good until you're messing around in the surf -- water collects and your boat suddenly gets extremely heavy, making an otherwise chill surf launch or retrieval dicy. This can be mitigated by gluing foam to the bottom of your cockpit, effectively raising the floor and lowering the volume.

At ~74lbs mine is heavier than my other boats, it's a b*tch in the surf, and it lacks the fish hatch that my stealh has. So it's been relegated to collecting dust until I eventually sell it.

I'd love to see some reviews regarding weights of the US made boats.

Hobie used to be notorious for claiming weights that were well below the actual assembled weight. I don't know if they have been more accurate recently, but I have my doubts.

Yeah mine was advertised as 64lbs. Looks like they're now advertised at 66lbs.

I do honestly wish them the best. By far the sweetest looking domestic option I'm aware of.

I had an Eddyline C-14 with a small center hatch that was an awesome kayak, my two favorites were my Eddy and my OK T-13 , which I believe one the designers from OK had input on the Scuppers
