I've been eyeing that one for a little while now, it looks like a great choice for a kayak. How are you mounting yours?  Newport seems to be one of the only names out there that is making kayak specific motors/mounting solutions.
I'm going to do a DIY sidemount on the rod holders behind the seat. I'll post some build photos when I have it done.

I'm really surprised Minn Kota only makes the Old Town kit and doesn't have some sort of universal adaptation for other kayaks. I think they must have exclusive contracting with Old Town and missed the boat so to speak with Hobie and others.
The Minn Kota solutions I saw involved taking the head apart and chopping the drive shaft down. I think it's 36" standard. Also, they don't explicitly say it's rated for saltwater because they want you to upgrade to their Riptide line, which is $$$. It's probably fine but the Newport motor ticks all the boxes from the get go.

I got a 100Ah LiTime battery to go with it and might also build an ESC+kill switch box for funsies.
I got one of these as a backup for my current controller.

The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope.  ~John Buchan
