@123engineering and @Scottymeboy fished this past weekend.

Scotty and I saw this small crustacean on some flatfish we caught (for bait).  i found a few dead ones in my ice chest at home.

they look similar to a "rolly polly" insect you would find if you overturned a rock in your garden.  last night i tried googling them.  i searched, "small crustacean found in flatfish"..

what a nightmare and total B, Mother nature can be!!  i think we found the Tongue Eating Louse!!!  it latches onto a host fish's tongue, kills it by severing the blood vessel and take up residence!!!  !@#$!@%!$#!#@$!!

hahahha...
just wow.

Haha, yeah, there are some creepy critters in the ocean. Pretty often, I find ling cods with similar looking parasites in their gills.  Maybe every 3rd or 4th fish. I don't seem to find them in rockfish though.

Isopods. They're all over the gills of a lot of ground fish. The funny thing is finding in sand dabs as big as them  :smt044

Remove those things from an underling, and that fish will be your BFF...

Nice work  on the research Cliff…
That is the little beast I’ve seen in the last two outings…
with the small flat fish. I don’t fish much for Halibut, anyone know if they carry them as well?
