Is there a WSB time period where they are easier to target? I have spent many a trip targeting these fish with no luck. wondering if I am doing the wrong time of year in the SC or MB areas.

Last yeah keepers were caught around the august time frame. Two months or so ago some said over the radio they were catch a number of undersize ones at the kelp bed in front of pleasure point of Capitola.
I tried it once and had something heavy take me into the kelp and I got tired trying lol one time  :smt003
I went to look for halibut instead  :smt003

Good luck.

Actually, on Bayside there is a claim that some small ones were caught in Capitola today.

Having never caught one, I'm certainly no expert on WSB. But, it seems to me that they are just incidentally caught, and not really targeted, unless they happen to show up in large numbers, and that is very rare. Just when I was starting out kayak fishing (about 2011) there was a brief period of time (maybe a couple of weeks total) when WSB were being caught regularly--there was a large fleet of boats constantly chasing them around, so it was easy to see where they were being caught. Since then, I've not seen anything remotely similar in the SC/Cap area. My impression is that only a small number of them hang around permanently, and it would be difficult to target them...
