caught this bad boy on the yokahama side of keana point. it hit a dead akule (big eye scad) in about 15 -20 feet of water. I took off towards the point about 7:00 am and was enjoying the paddle getting closer and closer when i suddenly noticed the current was pulling very strong. before i new it i could see down the mokuleia side of the island. oh oh there was a breaking rolling wash on the outside of the point and it pulled me right into it. the current was ripping out to sea and pulling me with it.  :smt013 lucky i had my brand new prowler 15  4.5 elite from new zealand. i took me about and hour and a half to get back to the inside of the point. i was amolst cramping i couldnt stop the whole time cause i ketp drifting away from the island.  the whole time i had bait in the water just praying it wouldnt get hit in that wash.  :smt011soon as i got inside the point this cuda nailed it and gave me a good 45 fight. he pulled me right back into the rip and it took another hour to get back inside the point. i never worked so hard for one fish but it was worth it. i thought it could be a record but it only came in at 45lbs.  we tested it for cig it was negative. we ate a lot of fish and chips that night and gave some big slabs to friends.  :smt001  you can see more pics at www.coastalkayaktours.com aloha Boogie-d
