Finally saw an open campsite at Doran opening weekend on Saturday night and secured the spot. Someone must of cancelled. Who knows where the bite will be but I’m down to give it a shot. Whoever is up for it, I’ll be down to share the spot with someone. Plan would be to head out at grey light and troll troll troll. Be prepared and plan for heavy fog. Could be a shit show so I’d probly have a light/flag as well to be seen better. Fingers crossed we get good weather. Who knows, the bite could be in fairly close.

Attached is a pic of one I caught last year in the Doran area.  I got into a school of em 20+ pounds. Granted it was Late August at the time, hoping we’ll have some luck this year.

Yeah man tough letting a nice salmon go but rules are rules. Oh yeah it was a sweet trying to bring this thing in but nothing beats when you hook ‘em deep in 180+ fow and they peel drag all the way to the bottom.

As for the screen name that’s still a work in progress😁

Hi Cam,
I may try to join you again this year for the day.... the spot where we saw the shark might be a good spot to start but with no intel likely to be right with the troll troll troll.
not sure where your campsite is but launching mid beach might be smart as the boat ramp is sure to be a shit show with the road etc being a complete parking lot.

I will be checking conditions but if too sporty I will probably pass but a little fog and wind will be ok.

Troy

Go get 'em, Cam!   :smt001

Great to see you at GS, buddy.

I predict lots of skunks, but I am looking forward to taking some long time regular clients out at the Cove next weekend.

Which places south of GGB will be a safer bet at this time for salmon? HMB, Linda Mar or Santa Cruz?

The further away you can get away from the crowds the better. But also if they weather is shitty, finding a protected launch/ landing would be preferable.

Almost time! Gettin the trolling rigs setup but also the mooching rig just in case. I’d love to get one on the mooch again with the light banana weight and limber rod.
