Hi Everyone,

It is that time of the year. That is, time to start searching for next year's funding. And this time, it is more critical than it has been previous years. Due to high fuel prices, and the associated costs being added on to everything else and my maxed out credit card, we are going to have a tough time next year without some outside funding.

I have spent a good part of the day, searching the net for possible sources of funding. And then, it dawned on me. Instead of one person trying to come up with ideas, why not increase the odds and ask for help.

So, here is the request. Please try to think of people and organizations that might be interested in donating to our cause. Remember that CCS is a registered 501 (c) (3) so all donations will be deductible.

I have been researching companies related to hunting (camo manufacturers, ammo companies etc.). I even sent an email to Ted Nugent. I am sure the bunch of you can come up with a lot more ideas. Please send any ideas, addresses, names, etc. that you can come up with.

New guy here.  I have a couple questions.  Funding for what?  What is our cause? (I could guess: catching fish and taking care of the environment while doing it)  And what is CCS?  I would like to help with ideas if I can come up with any, but I don't know the details.

I won't quote myself because its weird.  I asked what CCS is.  I figured it out with the web link at the bottom of Big Dog's post.  I guess I can figure out my other questions by looking at the website.  That is, if I can take my attention away from trying to redeem myself from getting skunked at BAM III!

Sorry guys. I have been on the puter all day with lots of folks, most of whom are very familiar with CCS. I forgot that I have not been in here for a while. CCS stands for Coon Camp Springs Inc. and the project is Coon Camp Springs Habitat Restoration Project. We are a non-profit that does habitat restoration. The other kind of hunting - on the land and in the woods.

Which is why I did not make it to BAM III. I was up north working on the habitat and the camp.

And by the way kayakjack, you do need a cause. That is if you want to keep on fishing. If you and others don't keep up with the cause, the wackos are going to close off the whole damn coast to fishing.

Don, I'm sure you realize that not all ideas will generate the big bucks and that every little bit helps. One idea is to solicit pledges to donate XX amount of money for every fish you catch, for every pound of fish you catch, etc. Of course, it can involve non-fishing subjects. Just a thought anyway. Maybe getting kayak outfits to donate yaks, or whatever, and selling raffle tickets.

Ok, let me run this by everyone and get your input. I am thinking about putting on a fundraising dinner. Like DU and other groups do but on a smaller scale. You buy a ticket that gets you in, dinner and a free drink or two. And then run raffles.
I have been doing the Ebay thing for about 6 months now and I have a bunch of rods, reels, tackle, camelbacks, rifle cases, a bicycle, etc. that I can raffle off. If it looks like this will work, I will start sending off requests to outdoor gear companies to try to get them to donate something for a raffle. I am also thinking about raffling off some pig hunts and a deer hunt at a club I belong to and pheasant hunts at another club I belong to.

Think it would fly? That is, get enough attendees to make a profit from it? Give me your thoughts.
