dungeness opener

i believe it opens sat nov.3. sometimes dfg changes the date at the last minute depending on how thick the meat is in some sample crabs. iwas thinking of going out to doran beach fri pm and dropping some pots,having a big fire and camping out. go out and empty the pots in the morning and make a big pot of gumbo. anyone interested?

There was a pile of dungeness carcasses on the beach at Trinidad when I was there yesterday. Our season doesn't open till Dec 1st

I am new to NCKA. Just curious what kind of crab trap is the most popular and easy to carry.

hi John, welcome to the site. i use the 2ft by 2ft square pots with a couple 1lb lead bars. the pots are collapsable so they are easy to stack on deck. i coil my poly-pro line onto a 12 inch section of pool noodle which also serves as my marker bouy. there is a really good article on kayak-crabbing listed on the home page of this site. check it out.

i bought mine at the outdoor pro shop here in santa rosa. i think they are made by danielson but promar makes a real good one also. i paid about 30 bucks each.
