May 1 Mendocino Rockfishing

As anticipated, the ocean was bumpy, and I had to keep the kayak pointing into the waves. The first bite was lingcod, and I caught the limit of lingcod and vermillion within two hours.  Switched to a jig and searched for black rockfish, but I could not locate them.  I could not keep lingcods away, landed a total of 8 today.   

It was a good opening day.  I will try again tomorrow.

Those are some huge Verms or small Lings or both. Nice job. I hope to meet up with you at the gulch this year for sole and RF.

Lots of lingcod on the chew at Shelter Cove too.  Nice verms!
