It looks like the turnover has happened. I’m going to try it today. I wonder how long it’ll take for the bite to recover.

The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope.  ~John Buchan

Curious where you pull your data from. I haven't been able to find any of that kind of data for my lakes up here. Are the different graph lines correspond to different depths? I'm not sure I'm seeing the flip on the graph, usually deeper will have a rise/inversion during turnover?

Many fishermen spend their lives chasing fish, only to realize that it was themselves that they were chasing.

The "Salty" in my handle refers to my attitude, not the waters I fish

The key is on top. The line colors indicate depth.

I felt like it had already sort of turned over with only a slight temp difference between the depths. In the summer the salmon are down at the 55 degree water at 70' or deeper, the trout can be from that level to maybe 35-40' in 60-65 degree water and only warm water fish above that. Last time out, I got that salmon at about 35'.
The crazy thing to me is that the lake was only down 12' at the end of dry season and has risen 4' in only 3 days with those storms. So is it muddy?

If a seagull poops on you, statistically it was no accident.

Did a lot of trolling without a bite.

I haven’t been following the turnover long enough to know what it does exactly. I just noticed all the depths are within a degree or so. No it wasn’t muddy.

I’m not sure why they were keeping it so full. No room for flood control. Looks like it’s 18” over and rising.

I don’t think flood control is a big part of its purpose.

Can someone explain turnover and how it affects the fish?

The water sinks and rises depending on temperature. During the summer, upper levels get warmer than lower levels. Then as the weather gets colder the surface starts to get colder and you end up with surface water colder than lower depths. Eventually the denser heavier colder water sinks below the warmer lower water mixing as it goes. The mixing of the surface water with the deeper water brings oxygen to the depths keeping the lake oxygenated. The oxygen levels affect what can live and at what depths.

When the turnover happens the fish go off the bite until they adjust to the change. Then you can more easily find trout closer to the surface after a summer of trolling deep for them.
