This info was posted on BASK and WSK (kayak clubs) listserves in the last few days:

From: Matt Broze <marinerkayaks@msn.com>

A well know kayak thief was arrested in the SF bay area on 9/25/07 and is back in San Quentin prison now (he had been released on parole last autumn).

Would any SF Bay area paddlers on Paddlewise please spread the word and encourage all the other paddlers you know to contact all the paddlers they know in order to find the buyer of an all off-white with off-white seams Mariner Coaster that was stolen a week ago Thursday and probably delivered to the unknowing buyer the next day. Also, we need to find anyone who recently bought a blue plastic Wilderness Systems Tsunami 160 or a lime-green Ocean Kayaks Scrambler XT in the last few months.

Also, anyone who knows what other kayak was stolen off the dock in Mill Valley along with the Tsunami 160 should get in touch with me ASAP so I can add it to the other three kayaks we are trying to connect with the thief.

The thief was advertising six or seven different kayaks on the Bay Area Craigslist within the last month. The kayaks mentioned above are also listed on the Stolen Kayaks page of our website. Just Google "Stolen Kayak" and the direct link should be at the top of the search results.

Also, any other kayaks anyone has heard about that were stolen in the last few months should be reported to me ASAP. The more stolen kayaks we know about and can connect to the thief by finding the buyer the more likely we will get lucky and be able to put him away for a longer sentence. Please contact (or forward this to) all the sea kayakers you know to get the word out on this.

To all those who helped in this effort already, a great big THANK YOU!

Coasters are very, very highly sought after, so I remember the recent ad for one in the SF CL. I thought that someone was going to be happy. The CL ad for the yellow Scupper (classic) was also linked to here on NCKA. I have to wonder if it is the same one noted on the Mariner site
