I know some of you are going out on the islander to cortes and SCI so i thought I would post a report even though it is not a kayak report.  I just got back from a 3 day dive trip on the horizon.  There were a lot of big bonita and big barracuda out at cortes.  There were a few yellowtail speared in the morning, but the yellowtail were MIA the rest of the day.  Most of the yellowtail were in the 10-15 pound range, but one close to 30 pounds was taken out of a school at SCI.  Two 30 pound white seabass where spotted, One at SCI and one at cortes.  There were a lot of sheephead at cortes I saw one that was close to 20 pounds. The lobster diving was slower then expected.  Most people only got a few bugs.  The swell was small, the winds light and the water temperature was 63 degrees. The vis was about 15-30 feet at cortes and almost 100 feet at SCI.

Here is a video of shallow water lobster diving at SCI

Nice video.  What did you use.  Camera with underwater housing or what?  Too bad about the fishing.  I have been wanting to go on that trip for years.  Joe alway has the best BBQ after he gets back.  Maybe next year.
