I’m pretty new to kayak fishing. Wondering where are some good spots to for this winter. So far I’ve only kayaked in the summer in Monterey but I recently bought a used revo 13 and excited to find some spots. Interested in fishing for whatever just to get reps in. Thanks!

Greetings!  Winter is a great season for kayak fishing!  Check out your local reservoirs; most of them stock trout in the winter.  Del Valle in Livermore is a pretty nice spot with a lot of different species to catch.  After hitting saltwater all season, freshwater can be very relaxing.  Freshwater fishing can also be a great place to dial in your gear and cockpit layout.

If you are looking for saltwater action in winter, crabbing is a lot of fun too.  Half Moon Bay is a popular launch and can be productive for crab.  Big thing with crabbing is to be mindful of how you load your hoops - they can get heavy and throw your balance off.

If you make a few more posts (total of 10), you can access the "member's only" hookups section.  A lot of folks here post their trips there to invite others to join or report their results.  A TON of good info can be found there, as well as opportunities to both see where folks are fishing and get out and meet some people from the forum.

I love kayaking in the winter. Less people, less boast, less kayakers. Just dress accordingly for cold water immersion depending on where you are and as long as the water isn’t frozen over go kayaking!

Without knowing anything about what you wore in Monterey: I mean you may be fine already.

Take the "dress accordingly" comment seriously. Cold water dress has been addressed extensively in the Safety First section. If you go with a wetsuit, lots of people go with a 3mil, which IMO is OK for a quick dip and remount, but for safety's sake I wear (wore, it's been awhile) a 5mil FJ with a 2mil stretchy surf jacket.

There have been a few instances where members here have had the shit really hit the fan and had to spend an extened amount of time in the water, again IMO, 3mil ain't enough for that.

Lots of calm water in winter months compared to the often too breezy spring/summer.  Most go crabbing or trout fishing this time of year.
