Pranked myself with the old dead fish trick

Fished on Saturday, and by Monday the garage stank like crazy. Thought I had things fairly clean and finally got a chance to go scrub everything today. When I went to scrub my fish bin and bait bucket, I found a kingfish in the bucket. It’s one of those trap door jobs and I didn’t realize. Hide a dead fish in the car or garage of someone you love for a prank or someone you don’t love for revenge.

You can always clean that with bleach

Yes.  But what is that thang in us that says, “hey, this smells nasty!  Come and smell it”, and we go back for more…I wonder if there’s some mental olfactory training going on there…

worst prank I ever played on someone and still regret doing it. Had a mackerel do the same thing in my bucket once up under the flap thing but luckily it was outside at least.

I had a bait bucket tip over in the car, got shrimpy water on the upholstery.... couldn't even bleach it.

I had good luck with water scrub, then vinegar, then rubbing alcohol to get the stink out without damaging the cloth. I'm sure it pales in comparison to an entire fish / crab though

These stories make me thankful that I don't have any nooks for crabs/fish to hide in...

About two weeks ago I was in Maui for two weeks. It was during that heat wave we just got over. Before we left, my wife accidentally unplugged my the deep freezer in the detached garage. I had rockfish, lingcod, halibut, anchovies, and sardines in there. They were all under about a foot of pink milky liquid. The worse combination!  I only found out when my dogs keep wanting to hangout in there. The smell attracted flies from the entire neighborhood! Never again!
