Yo! Excited to get into this new hobby. Got 2 Hobie Revo 13's as first kayaks for the wife and I. I've been river bank and surf fishing for a couple months, nothing serious. I also surf, backpack, camp/overland, and have an e-moto (Surron). Former LEO, going to nursing school in January. Hoping to learn a lot and meet some cool people along the way!

God bless  :smt001

Nice kayaks. Hope to see you on the water, minus the barnacles...

Happy fishing to you! From San Jose, you’re a reasonable drive time to plenty of good spots.

Santa Cruz, Monterey and Half Moon Bay (SC, MB, HMB) are all pretty close to SJ, have easy harbor launches and will reopen for November rockfish.
HMB, Doran and Tomales are easy launches for crabbing when that opens.
Get Windy app for swell and wind conditions. I would look for days that are 4' or less and winds less than 10mph to start out.
For freshwater, you might look at O'neil Forebay for stripers. I used to fish Stevens Creek and Lexington 40+ years ago. Not sure how they fish now.
