Hi everyone, I am Ahmed, I live in San Jose. I have been fishing in Santa Cruz area more-or-less weekly for the past year. It's my self-therapy. I usually do surf fishing from one of the beaches in the area, but lately I started kayak fishing on rental kayaks and I loved it. I am currently looking into buying my first kayak, but I am still looking for storage options near Santa Cruz (I found available Kayak storage in the HMB area, which is currently my plan B). I am still making my mind whether to go with a paddle kayak (prowler 13 or Tarpon 12 ultra light), or increase the budget and go for a Hobie Revo 13 or Outback (knowing that I am very beginner in kayaking, and I will only do near-shore fishing in calm days). I found a new 2022 revo 13  for $2700 (which I guess it's a good deal?), a used 2019 Revo 13 for $2200, and an old 2010 Outback for $1000,  and I am kind of in a analysis paralysis now, so all suggestions are welcome haha.

Welcome. I fish frequently in Santa Cruz, and hope to see you on the water.

One thing to keep in mind about Hobie kayaks is that they tend to retain their value. So, in the unlikely event that you turn out to be one of those weirdos who does not like kayak fishing, you could sell a used Hobie for a good price.

I would get a Revo 13. The newer the better but depends on your budget. Its lighter than an Outback and faster OTW.

HI Ahmd- I live in Capitola (near two of the easier launch ramps around). I'm open to you keeping your kayak at my pad if you're interested. Let's go fishing. I'm a newbie but actually have tons of water time (been sirfing for 40 years and a few friends have boats)
