As usual thank you so much for a great time. We went out the next day, and spent most of the time over the reef with good action. At the end of the day we all were relaxing, and had just ordered pizza for dinner.

Suddenly my son's friend Chad starts screaming in pain from is left abdomen.  We called 911, and the Shelter Cove fire department, and paramedics were there promptly. They loaded him in the ambulance and advised that he would be airlifted to Eureka. After the helicopter came, and left the fire crew came back and let us know that he was going to Willits. At around 9pm my son let me know that Chad had passed a kidney stone and had been released. My son left to get him in Willits about a 2 hour drive.

At 9:40 my son shows up back at the house and informs me that the front wheel assembly has come off his Tacoma truck, and it's unmovable in the lane. he had hitch hiked back. He calls his tow service, and they dispatch a truck. About half way to his truck the tow service calls and says sorry we cannot find any available tow trucks in the area. As we keep driving to his truck we are trying to figure out what to do with spotty cell service in the middle of nowhere late at night.

When we get to his truck a Highway Patrol officer is there, and lets us know a tow truck is on the way. The tow driver arrives and lets us know he could take the truck to his shop for repairs. Without any other options it was decided to have the truck go to the tow companies shop.

Chad was able to borrow a blanket at the hospital, and spent the night in the waiting room. In the morning my son loaded his, and Chad's stuff into Chad's truck, and picked him up, and then went to get a rental car for my son.

In spite of the unplanned ordeal I can't wait for the trip next year. Hopefully Chad, and Tsuri will want to join us again.

Holy crap, Mark!  What an ordeal.  I'm glad everyone came out whole in the end.

Thanks Mark and Eric for the introduction to Shelter Cove, been trying to plan a trip there for a couple years but couldn't ever seem to fit it in. Lucky for me Mark had this planned for some time and when he invited me to tag along I jumped at the chance.

Two days fishing back to back is rather uncommon for me and I was thankful for the extra wetsuit I purchased. It would have been less fun getting into a cold and wet wetsuit on the second early morning. We did good on halibut the first day and despite me releasing one more than may have been prudent I was able to pick up another slightly larger model on our way in on the second day so in the end it worked out.

Thanks again for the great company you guys but not sure I can wait another year to go back!
