The people selling these parts are in Singapore, and I bought replacement Hobie chain assemblies from from them, and they are outstanding quality.

In any case, I believe that the V1 drums are slightly different than the V2 version (the chain length differs). If you want V2 drums, I've got several spares (from upgrading multiple drives to GT) and you can have a pair, gratis.

here is the turbo assembly, I think this can be installed on the drive? I havent taken one of the old ones apart yet tho.

I don't think that one fits the V1 drive. I did find the correct one (part #72065), most places are either out of stock or 4-6 week delivery time. Found one on ebay though!

I appreciate all the research you guys are doing! The V1 & V2 drums are different...I ran across a chat about the conversion kit on a Hobie sailing forum while looking for fins. I may just go with the turbo fins I found on ebay and see how it works. The drive has always worked fine for me, so if I don't need an upgrade I'll spend the money elsewhere. I've changed cars since I last went out, so a new Yakima roof rack is also on the shopping list since I no longer have my SUV. lol
