You could get a pair of replacement "indestructible stainless steel sprockets" and turbo fins for a little less than the GT upgrade

https://www.amazon.com/Stainless-Sprockets-Mirage-sprocket-Sprocket/dp/B0C7Q1YRLH/

https://www.amazon.com/Turbo-Upgrade-Hobie-Mirage-Fishing/dp/B0BP1KC586

The people selling these parts are in Singapore, and I bought replacement Hobie chain assemblies from from them, and they are outstanding quality.

In any case, I believe that the V1 drums are slightly different than the V2 version (the chain length differs). If you want V2 drums, I've got several spares (from upgrading multiple drives to GT) and you can have a pair, gratis.
I don't like stuff that sucks.

I appreciate all the research you guys are doing! The V1 & V2 drums are different...I ran across a chat about the conversion kit on a Hobie sailing forum while looking for fins. I may just go with the turbo fins I found on ebay and see how it works. The drive has always worked fine for me, so if I don't need an upgrade I'll spend the money elsewhere. I've changed cars since I last went out, so a new Yakima roof rack is also on the shopping list since I no longer have my SUV. lol
