My dock was damaged last winter.  Wind/wave was so violent that the boat ripped off the piece of 2x8 board that the cleat is attached to.  For this upcoming winter I want to put in some shock absorber.

But as with anything marine, this is a bit pricey.  And the ones I looked at does not even list how much force it can sustain.

So I am thinking, can I improvise my own shock absorber?  Maybe hook up a small tire?  Anyone has tried to create your own boat line shock absorber?

……boats are expensive……I’d just buy the appropriate ropes and be confident that my boats not getting fkd up every time the wind blows.
