I order mine and want to share it with other NCKA members.

What is the Military, Veterans, and Gold Star Family Free Access Program?
Current US military and dependents, Gold Star Families, and US military veterans are eligible to receive free annual or lifetime passes which cover entrance or day use fees at national parks, national wildlife refuges, national forests, and other federal recreational lands.

You can order online for $10 at: https://store.usgs.gov/

Or get one from any of the National Parks for free: https://www.nps.gov/planyourvisit/pickup-pass-locations.htm

Thanks for sharing!  This used to be only for veterans with 50% or more disability and now it's wide open.  I ordered mine!

Ah, I found the change... as of Veterans Day last year...

Quote
Today, the Biden-Harris Administration announced that starting on Veterans Day (Nov. 11), veterans of the U.S. Armed Services and Gold Star Families can obtain a free lifetime pass to more than 2,000 federal recreation sites spread out across more than 400 million acres of public lands, including national parks, wildlife refuges, and forests.

I have had the federal parks pass for a while as I’m a disabled vet. I’m glad that it’s available for all veterans as it should be! Don’t forget to get your state parks pass and county park passes also. County parks just need a dd214 and I’m not sure if the state parks pass is for disabled vets or everyone.

For the state parks pass, disability is still a requirement it seems:

WHO QUALIFIES
Honorably discharged veterans who have California residency, and one of the following three criteria/criterion:
  • An overall/combined service-connected disability at a rating of 50% or greater with service during periods of wartime or operations against a foreign power.
  • Held as prisoners of war by forces hostile to the United States.
  • Recipient of the Medal of Honor.

Kinda silly that currently serving active duty folks aren't included for the State parks pass.  Life is tough with an enlisted person's salary here in CA.

Exactly! I believe that anyone actively serving should be included! Give the current military members an opportunity to enjoy our state parks on their days off or on vacation without charging them to enter the parks or to camp. Until you pin on sergeant stripes you’re not making a lot of $.
