Haven't been out much and decided to go at least see the sea and drive down to the wharf and see what the baitfish action is like there.  Lot of people out for the holiday, tons of people fishing up and down the length of the wharf.  I got to my usual spot and setup and tried a bare sabiki for a bit, but really nothing was interested in a baitless rig.  Eventually went and bought some shrimp and immediately started catching what others were bringing in, some 6-12" smelt and shiner perch were in abundance.  No anchovies though, at lest not that I saw being landed.  While reeling in a couple nice sized smelt I saw a halibut chasing after them.  Later a kid was reported to have hooked a halibut on a sabiki rig just down the way from where I was.  Enjoyed the nice weather, although a bit windy, and tried drifting live shiners for a few bites but no real hookups.  Will be back soon when the anchovies showing up.
