Hi guys,

Closed on a property this morning that has two large/long single-car garages.  None of my tenants want to rent them, and I'll probably only need one for my own personal gear/hobby storage.  Thinking about building some racks, a gear table, and have a rolling cart for ease of load/unloading.  I remember reading about some people needing storage in the Bay.  Its only about 10-15 minutes from Ferry Point going West or 10-15 minutes to Berkeley Marina going South.

Anyone interested?  Was only thinking about $20-25/month depending on how much space you need.  Completely indoor, one locked keyed entry, one rolling up garage door, and I'm having closed loop camera installed in the next week or two.

Located in Richmond Annex.  Right off San Pablo Avenue, across the street of El Cerrito Police/Fire Station and City Hall.

I want to be fair.  Single car garage/storage in the area is renting for about $150-200/month.  I could comfortable fit 8-10 kayaks (4-5 on each wall) with still plenty of room for a gear table and rolling cart.  Garage is approximately 14' wide x 24' long.  I think 6-8 kayak at $20-25 each per month is equal to market rate.

Each renter would be given their own keycode for access thru the door.  Once inside, you can unlock the roll up garage door and pull your truck/car onto the driveway to load and unload your gear.  A rolling cart helps move the kayak to the designate kayak rack slot.

I might be in for this. Only concern is security. 24/7 access would be nice. Is there a hose nearby?

Each person has their own key code to get into the garage.  I’m setting up the cameras this week and will have one by the door and above the garage/driveway, can setup one inside the garage as well if this idea works out for multiple renters.  There is a hose bib nearby but plan to put another one right next to the garage.  24/7 access is the idea.  Only the renters and myself would have access to the storage garage.   Cameras give me video of anyone entering the garage.  Door keypad also has a log/time stamp of key codes used to open the door via phone app.  So it’s really a trust system only for NCKA members really.  I don’t plan to open this offer to Craigslist or complete strangers.

If there’s not enough interest, then I guess it’s time for me to buy a boat.

Yes, I did buy a 14' Portabote which works great for Bay excursions and saves space from having to store a trailer.

As for storage, I didn't see much interest from anyone.  I did build storage racks for my two kayaks and the portabote.  I can move the portabote if someone wants space or easily build another rack if needed.  At this point, I'll open it up to an individual basis.

If anyone is still interested, then please reach out to me in PMs.

Kevin
