Figured I’d try to make a tide chart for y’all flatly lovers
Downloaded the data from NOAA and imported into Google Spreadsheets, then whooped a simple X-Y formula to compute tide differences, and color coded based on that.

It’s my first time making such a chart. I hope you find it useful.

I think so. But I usually fish on weekdays (kids, you know). So I’ll color the weekends red  :smt005

Nice chart, Li-Orca.

In your opinion, what is the optimal differential, or range of differentials, for finding halibut?

Sorry for the late response. I think sub 4 is considered very good, but 5 is ok too. I’m not a halibut expert by any means, but I know people catch them in many conditions. It’s more about finding the right spot and using the right presentation.

Great base to start with.
But theres a ton of other factors that help.  Location, depth, wind direction, abundance of bait fish, water clarity, water salinity, water temperature... list goes on and on.

But the biggest factor is sitting at home on the computer, typing on NCKA, and not getting on the water  :smt005

Good info.  Will try to pay attention to tides differentials when I am out.
