I'm hooked on watching this guy slay fish on his tiny trout rod  :smt005  I even tried fishing this way at lake camanche and caught a easy stocker trout basically using a mini swimbait like a rip bait  :smt005  I'm so curious now I want to try and find out more about it.  I've seen BFS setups, and this seems similar, but I'm having a hard time finding information on this guy's technique.

if that didn't work then

He's using some 5' glass trout rod called a Trout Ranger that much I gathered.  He uses a pretty simple jig like a bransen bait, or  uses these metal vibe jigs, or even just regular jerk/swim baits.  Curious if there is some specific technique or if this is something that he just made up  :smt044

I think it is called Slow Pitch Jiggling

Boy I shouldn't post while I'm watching youtube and drinking  :smt044  I even ordered a cheap glass trout rod  :smt005

That slow pitch stuff is looking more and more fun to me actually, I think I'll need to buy some more gear and give it a shot this year  :smt005  Looks like it would be great for that 50 fathom stuff  :smt003

I've been watching this guy's videos for a while now. I really like that he also releases a number of his fish if he does not need to eat them.
Most of the NorCal youtubers are simply meat fisherman.

In fly fishing circles there is a movement away from 4wt and small ultralight rods since the longer fights stress the fish more, especially in summer.
When I was up at Pyramid in February I was using a light spinning rod with 8 lb line and that provided plenty of fun yet I could land 22" to 28" trout in decent time. A guy I was fishing with was using an ultralight with 4 lb line and it took him a long time to bring in a large fish, which while making for a great battle, stresses the fish more. Probably not an issue in winter though.

If a seagull poops on you, statistically it was no accident.
