Greetings,

My Lowrance Hook 4 kicked the bucket at the end of last year.  It won't even power on anymore.  If any one of you have or will be upgrading your FF, feel free to reach out as your old one may work out for me.  Any other leads will be appreciated.  Thanks.

Not exactly what you asked for, but all the Lowrance stuff is still HEAVILY discounted on Walmart.com.

Over the weekend, I saw a FB posting for a practically new Lowrance Hook 7 with maps for a very decent price.  After I picked it up, I am starting to have second thoughts as it is pretty darn big (like I shouldn't have figured that out beforehand).  My main concerns are the stress it puts on the mounting surface due to its weight and interference with rod positioning/fish retrieval.

Just curious if any of you with a Revo 13 is using a Hook 7 or similar-sized FF?  Both for and against comments will be appreciated.

I will need to change out the RAM case from 1" to 1.5" if I proceed with this FF so I am trying to determine if it is a wise investment of time and $$.

Thanks.

It felt big at first on my revo13 but really love it after getting used to it. I wouldn't go back to anything smaller than the 7" screen.

If possible, would you mind sharing some pics of how you mount your FF?  Thanks.

First two pic was from my revo and had it that way for about five years. I still have this same as my backup installed on my tandem island.
The last two pic are from AI and tandem island and current setup with ram mount.

The fish finder is a major source of entertainment.  Even when fishing is slow, if I am metering fish, it keeps me busily trying to catch one.

I own a Revo 13 and have using a 7 FF for years.  It works great. Its best to match it with 1.5 inch ball mount. I mount mine in the sail mast with Ram 1.5 Ball wedge mount.

I am also using a Raymarine Element 7.  I like mine closer as I am always fiddling with the settings.  To feel less cramped, I made a swivel mount with PVC.  A ball mount is best to provide some give against heavy contact.  The bigger the ball, the better the holding in place.   I like the picture and software layout, but the RealVision 3D is a joke.  At least they are not charging an extra 1K for a sonar box to display it like other brands.   Does anyone have 3D display that is accurate and usable?  or is this still just developing tech that is not worth the purchase?

Thanks for all the replies.  I actually didn't know about the adapter from RAM that takes advantage of the sail mast.   Just curious:  with the FF at the sail mast location, do you still find it convenient to reach the buttons then?  Thanks.

It works for my AI and I dont have any problems reaching the buttons/touchscreen. I can't get to it using my tandem because I'm in the rear seating. So I added a PatR scotty mount on my rear rt aka to setup my ff from my Revo13.
