Hi All!

Just recently bought my first kayak - Hobie Outback 2018. I have done lake fishing, beach fishing and some charter boats and really looking forward to kayak fishing.

Would love to make some new friends in the area and looking to learn all about kayak fishing. Any tips/guides are greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

Hi Letsgoling,

Welcome from Petaluma.   Bunch of info on this site.... the hookup board is a great way to meet fishing partners and make new friends.  Unfortunately you will need 10 posts I think to be able to post to the members hookup board.  Pretty easy to get 10 by just reading all the info helpful to the sport.   I would start with the safety first section and go from there.

Welcome

Troy

Congratulations on your new kayak, and good choice!  The 2018 outback is much more bulletproof than the newer outbacks.  My 2019 did not last 6 months before it formed a crack behind the seat.  2018 was the last year of a very tried and proven hull design.

Thank you all for the welcoming posts! I'll get started on the posts and I agree safety is the #1 priority. Thinking about hitting Spring Lake to do some test runs first.

I'm new to the area as well and have a 2017 Hobie Outback. What species are you after primarily?
