Do you have to purchase your motor first before motorizing your kayak and registering it at the dmv? Is this a new thing?

Law is similar to : kayak with a motor , how can you register a kayak without a motor.

I would register the kayak while waiting for the motor.

DMV doesn't care about the motor information but they will want the serial number from the kayak.

I would read this thread: http://www.norcalkayakanglers.com/index.php?topic=100324.0

And then take advise with a grain of salt and come up with a plan that is fool proof before you head to the DMV or you will just come back frustrated.

Duely noted, Al. There was some confusion when i went. They said something like i had to have the manufaturer number..etc. I went back and said i needed the Boat 101 form and that fixed it. Thank you, Al.
