Wake up to overcast and drizzly conditions in Willits and I'm free for the morning, and I recieved a new shooting head and a couple of new topwater flies yesterday... what to do?
4 fish caught, one on the flyrod popper and the rest on a tiny Kastmaster under the boat whenever I metered fish sub-surface. Only one was a dink and the flyrod fish might have been the best of the day. What am I saying? It WAS the best fish of the day, it was fly-caught, on topwater! Had other blowups on the popper that didn't stick.
The new head flew great. Also tried a new running line that worked to satisfaction.
I can fish tomorrow and can't decide on Mendo or Tomales...

you can't decide? what's wrong with you?

you just caught stripers on topwater flies?

Do you have a fever? split personalities? for god's sake man, people travel 100's, even thousands of miles to do what you just did...

Now go do it again, so the rest of us can live vicariously

Bueller I'm starting to feel like Mooch. I used to like you, than reading your posts you were starting to make me sick, now you with a camera I am starting to dislike you  :smt003 Please don't post any pictures from your Smith trips or I don't think I can fish with you anymore. :smt005

Great job Juan sounds like a blast. I'll be up soon.

Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.

Sean, a loaded reel is a good deal!
Zee, the popper in the pic is a Crease Fly. I also used a Popovich Banger, which is pretty close to being the same thing.
I fished flies this morning too. Skies were clear and the fish didn't show. I also nailed the back of my head with the Banger when the breeze kicked up. That left me a little gun-shy. Ouch! :smt044
I'll probably be there saturday morning.

Juan, dude your killin' me.  What are the Vegas odds on Juan winning Bendo? 2:1?  Nice pic too.  Wish I could be there Saturday, but I need a break from Ukiah.  I have been their too much this month already.  Gotta mow the lawn.
