Hard to catch the salmon there.... as they are few and far between.  Most get pushed into the jetty from the currents... so the shore guys seem to do better.

On a good year, they are all over the place, but this year... it's very, very bad.

Stripers are around here and there.. The State Park is best in the shallows.

Might see you guys out there as well!

Just 4 small stripers in the 13"-17" range for me. Brian picked up a keeper. No action after 10:30.

Thanks for the report.
Sounds similar to what I saw last weekend.

How concentrated were the stripers?

Not very concentrated. I might hit Napa Friday. I think they concentrate more there.

Thanks for the report JoeDubC! Were you out their on a kayak or a boat? Newbie here just assumed the current was too strong up that way to fish out of kayak, so any advice tips would be awesome.

I was following speedysteins and some other posts as it was my first time there. 9th st launch is very convenient and free. Look up tide tables and pick mild tide times. It was a bit if exercise on the stretch back from Glen Cove against current.

This spot definitely gets some strong tidal currents - good advice to time your trip with the tide.  I've pedaled against it couple times, but it's a lot easier to just go with the current. Plus, if you are fishing in the flats by the state park, you will probably have the wind at your back on the way in too.  I've caught most fish in the middle of the  tide, incoming or outgoing. I think moving water is best for stripers, seems to trigger feeding time.  That said, this was my first season fishing there, and maybe I got lucky with timing the few times I went out there - I know they are moving up river in pretty large numbers this time of year.

I've been meaning to get back there to try to replicate my success from last month, just been too busy with work, house chores, and family stuff lately.
