Hey there!  I'm brand new to this site.  I'm hoping to post up some kayak fishing pix soon, but today I'm on a mission.

We need kayak volunteers for the swim course in the Sac river for the upcoming IronMan.  I'm just trying to spread the word for the kayak volunteer captain.  I hope this is the right place to post this information.  If anyone is interested, I'll provide the info.  Our directive is to ensure the safety of all participants (and, of course, have fun on the water while doing so).

Hey, welcome to the club!  Lots of good people here, and plenty from Sac area - I am sure you will find some help for the event. I would totally be down for that but I am already booked that weekend.

Good luck, and hope to see some fishing pics/reports soon!

5 is early, but keep in mind this is a fishing forum, haha.  I still can't make it, but posting to bump this and keep it toward the top of the "recent posts" list.

Thanks!  5 is def pre dawn, and thanks for the bump  :smt001

This is super important, providing safety for the swimmers.  Last year, we drove through the raging storm, hoping it would be called off.  Thankfully, it was!  I was ready to launch, if needed, but holy heck, glad they cancelled.

My friend is in it this year (again) and told me that some of the swimmers experience life threatening situations which require immediate extraction, which is why, us, as kayaking aficionados (sp?) are especially helpful securing their safety.

Aaaaand, I might just drop a line in while I'm waiting for the start.

Anyway, I hope some of us can or will join in the fun of Ironman Sacramento.

Tight lines, m'friends.
