Hello everyone,
I'm new to Kayak fishing, but not new to Kayaking. I'm sure I'll need lots of help. My background experience was in my 20's whitewater runs on the rivers in Virginia and West Virginia, grade 4-5 stuff that was 40 years ago lot of endurance not much common sense lol. I recently purchased a Eddyline 14 Caribbean fishing. It's a beautiful unit as it only weighs 50 lbs and I can lift it and car top it myself. I've only had it on a few lakes thus far, but I imagine with my proximity to HMB and Santa Cruz those will be my target areas. How do any of you practice re-entry in the bay area and where? I think it's an essential skill, not one I'd like to practice in the ocean by myself.

Welcome, gman1. Hope to see you on the water in Santa Cruz.

As far as practicing self-rescue, my go-to location is Lexington Reservoir.

Welcome to NCKA :smt006

The Eddyline is a good boat. I've been using a C12 for many years.
Have fun and stay safe.

I fish a lot in Santa Cruz, because it's so close and convenient. Sometimes, I fish in Monterey or Moss Landing, but mostly in the Monterey Bay.
