Thursdays' looking real good according to NOAA. If it continues to look like a good day, I'm heading for the Sonoma coast for some rockfishin. Don't know if it's going to be Salt Point or Fort Ross yet. If your interested pipe up. Keeping an eye on the weather.

Right now plan A is Salt point if I decide to stay the night (all depends on the weather forcast right before) and plan B if I only do a day trip might be Fort Ross. Not sure right now. I don't like to over commit until I'm sure of the forcasts. A little too early for that.

Yeah, the weather report is super nice & today was another nice day, so Bodega crews are thinking about quick dip for ab-diving. :smt045  I'm totally up for fishing all day long, but bsteves might not have enough WAF to go for all day... :smt009  We found the good deep rocky stretch at Ft Ross, but we might need to practice fish at Ocean Cove for Randy Fry on Oct.  I wanted to go up to Moat creek because my friend swear by it. & also I only have six more for this year & they're all from 84...
Anyone else ever been there (Moat creek) before?

Well the weather and the swells look perfect for a coastal assault! My brother is coming out with me for the first time, so I'm sticking to an area I know. We are going to launch from Salt Point Park at the back of Gerstel cove, then head out to the point. It's $6 to enter the park and then go allllll the way down the road to the back of the cove. It's like putting in a swimming pool. Maybe a 50' carry over the rocks depending on the tides. My brother won't be able to make it to my house till around 7-730 and it takes about an 1 1/2 hrs from my house. I'll have my VHF on 69. If you decide to go We'll probably be on the water around 9:30. Should be calm all day.  :smt003 We are going to spend the night, fish the next morning and then jump in for some abs. Company welcome.

Allen,
Salt point is about 15 minutes north of Fort Ross. (There's a big sign at the entrance) Verison cells don't work on the coast. There are very small spots that do. One of them happens to be on the very point of Salt Point, but for the most part, don't count on it working. Don't worry, we won't be out of site from the point. We'll be in a white bubble top dodge van.
