This seems to me more about the ability of a small business to manage themselves.  If Eddie says I have to wear clown shoes and a bow tie to get a haircut then that is his store policy. My freedum is to have the choice to take my business elsewhere or go along with it, that's it.  No doubt Eddie gives some killer hairdos but there are other options out there.
It's like getting mad at a kosher deli not making you a ham and cheese sandwich, just go somewhere else.

Have decided I dont need this stuff in my life, so i'm not reading the responses.  I love my NCKA brothers, but I cant agree with every opinion shared, and dont need to press my view on anyone.  I'm just going to say that I've learned that for me NCKA is not a good place to debate politics, and for my own health and happiness I'm going to avoid sharing my view on these topics from now on.  Lets go fishing instead  :smt003  Let go of the negative, lets focus on the positive which is i'm happy to be alive, and fishing.

I consider your opinion on "these" things valuable. It may cause some friction but it is a very much needed point of view from one who personally suffered a big impact to your life from covid. Keep saying what you wish to say on this.

Definitely two sides to the argument. I can agree with points on both sides.

I think it just seems to weigh a little different when you know someone who has lost their life to Covid or who became gravely ill and will have medical issues the rest of their life.   :smt009

Pls dont read anything in to my response other than that is how i was affected by Covid.

I didn't want to debate mask effectiveness, it's not like i'm an expert in masks and virus transmission or such.  I do know that it doesn't hurt, if you don't think it hurts.  And of course it does, if you think it does.  I don't think either opinion is right or wrong, but I think it's wrong to judge someone that has an opposing view from your own.  In the end, respecting eachother is what really matters, and I have a lot of respect for you Eddie.  Sorry my opinion is different than yours, but I didn't come here to just enforce my view on anyone.  I just want to go fishing, outdoors, and not worry about being indoors with masks and such either for my own mental heath.  Join us on the water where this is a minute concern and spread the stoke man!
My wife asked why I wanted to post this at all.  She asked if I was looking to start an argument.  Honestly, just getting a feel as a mid post live with it covid opinion poll from many of whom I trust, and you would be one them.  Full respect and I am glad you got through, that’s a long scary symptomatic month you had and I know what that’s like.  I’m stil probably just grieving what used to be pre covid.  Stay super cool brah! :smt006

Your WIFE knows what you post here!!??!!

Thanks for your thoughts and dialogue Eddie: Social norms are definitely hard to navigate now days.    As a family doctor and having to deal with everything COVID for years now;  Kayak fishing has pretty much been a safe haven for me.   A day out in the Ocean is a much needed break after 12 hour work days.  I especially really enjoy and appreciate our community even if views / opinions are different than mine.

COVID 19 has killed over 1 million people in the US alone.  Many , many more have been hospitalized.  Most people that get COVID either have no symptoms or develop mild symptoms .  I've seen lots of patients with "long -covid".  It happens to about 1/20 people that get the omicron variant of COVID and unfortunately we don't have good treatment options or a "cure" for long-covid.  You wont see me out in the ocean wearing a mask but i highly recommend wearing one indoors when you'll be in close contact with others.  The science is clear that if you use the right mask the right way that it can protect you and others.   Cloth masks/ gators don't work and diaper chin ( see south park ) doesn't work either.

I also want to encourage my kayak fishing brothers/sisters get the COVID 19 vaccine.  Its not going to make you bulletproof but it will reduce your chance of going to the hospital.   Take my word for it:  Staying healthy and catching  fish instead of COVID is a much better experience.
