I'm thinking to doing a quick morning run (fish from 6am-11am) to Bean Hollow this Sunday, 9/9/07.  It's a low 5-6' swell this Sunday and my paid-subscription windforecasting tool that I use for windsurfing only predicts minimal 6-8 knots wind for that morning. I don't know if it's full moon Sat night and what it got to do with fishing (I'm looking into this) but looks like BH is a go to me.  Anybody interested of going? :smt003

NW SWELL 5 TO 7 FT AND SW 1 TO 2 FT. PATCHY FOG.

??

what paid subscription are you looking at?

Hidden in the NOAA header is a line that says its for off shore conditions.

where can we get reliable near shore conditions? i have a feeling its a "go and see" kind of thing.

thats it, were going out on the powerboat tomorrow from HMB. maybe we'll see some folks out at BH tomorrow if you go.

NOAA forecast covers a very WIDE area and it's for a 'whole-day' forecast.  I am using iWindsurf.com forecasting tool that has a windsensor near BH w/ forecast info broken out in 'hourly' interval..  Wind is not expected to pick up to 10+ knots until after 12 noon.  If you're on a motor boat, you can outrun 20+ knot wind.  At 8 knot wind, it won't even push a kid on a windsurfer let alone a 200lb deadweight like me on a yak.

Bring plenty of gas if you want to reach BH from HMB.

we used 16 gallons going all the way to pigeon pt and back. we also fished all the places between.

it took 1 hour to get to pigeon pt and coming back was 1.5 hours in rough waters. we were back by 1pm or so. he and the family went out again after but i went home to eat fish!

we found really good places between bean and pescadero in about 70-80 feet. got some good marks on the gps.

if you want to go with us i'll give alain a jingle and see. let me know before i leave work today. were planning on leaving the harbor at 8am tomorrow and i may get a scoop of bait this time although we did well with plastics and squid last time.
