I launched from mbk pretty late around 9am and the wind was already up. Got worse throughout the day and was not fun to fish in. The water was a warm 59 degrees though and there were plenty of smelt and sardines around so that kept me out there. I worked the usual spots by the tin building and and dive buoys for 3 hours and nothing but ling cod and sharks, all of which were safely released. After that I paddled out to 50ft right off the tip of the coast guard and got a nice 21lb halibut on a live smelt. Called it a day after that. Also talked to a friend who got a 30lber off his boat between the hotel and casa verde condos in 45ft so there’s still some slobs laying around!

Good one!

Kinda bumpy on the other side of the bay too. In SC I got a decent lingcod and kept a nice vermillion RF (they look a bit deflated in the picture) but could not find the halibut.

Are you pondering what I’m pondering?

Heck yea man right on that looks like a jumbo ling next to that water bottle! Hopefully it’s a little calmer tomorrow I’m gonna go mess around with some rockfish out in pacific grove. Have you heard about any seabass around sc? My friend sent me a fb post of someone with a nice one caught on a sardine last week.
