Yak^3 accident in HMB this weekend reminded me of my own, also in HMB this Friday.

On the way home, in the parking lot, as I was cleaning my kayak, it suddenly moves and tips over me! I shout “stop stop”.
I lift my head and I see a Prius making a reverse. I bang on the trunk with my hand, but the driver slowly drives away as if nothing happened. I notice it’s an old man wearing big headsets. He probably was unaware.

The kayak was next my car, not on the road, and I was crouching to clean the sand from the kiel. There was no other gear on the road to alert a driver that someone could be there. I think this made me and the kayak less visible. I was so thankful i was ok, and the kayak wasn’t damaged. If I was on the other side of the kayak, the car would have run over me for sure.

I’m thinking that next time I would leave half of my kayak on the road so that anyone driving or reversing would have to see it. Any thoughts?
