All,

Decided to take the yak to the sweetwater and troll up some dinner.

Got a late start and got to the lake at 9am.

Word was the trout were a little deeper so I set up one trolling setup with a 2oz banana weight to get it down.  Put some flashers and a little castmaster on that rod.  The shallow rod got some flashers and a propeller worm harness with a nightcrawler.

Here is the cockpit:

Here is the left rod and right rod:

headed for the dam end and when I got there and made the turn, I got slammed on the castmaster.  Up came a suprisingly small, but tough, trout.

Trolled around more, and finally switched the worm to a crappie jig w/o flashers.  It was not in the water 5 minute before getting hammered.

Here is a shot of the fish at the boat, c'mon, you can see it!

I got hit 3 or 4 more times on the crappie jig but none of them stuck.

Bite shut down and that was that.

Here is the result.  Not spectacular, but dinner.

Note to self:  When trolling for trout, don't pack the yack with tons of gear that you will never use and forget the icechest.  I need to just leave all the stuff at home so I can toss the fish on ice.  They looked a little tired after sitting on a stringer for 4 hours.

Lake looked sweet.  Still very high, surface temp around 73 and I found a running spring.  Next stop, catfish!

Every once in a while a little old school trout trolling is just what the Dr. ordered.  Nice report.  I really liked the confirmation of "pan size".

glad to hear the trout are still sticking around.  I totally concur with your wisdom on being a tackle slut.  My last trip out, I paid the price dearly.

the kastmaster is the money lure at loch lomond.  Did you try the flooded brush for bluegill and such?

I had planned on a quick limit of trout and then some bass fishing, hence the 10 tons of tackle in the basket.

I did not however fish for bass or bluegill.  I just found out that there are redears in that lake.  That has me fired up.  I love redears.

I found some good looking territory in the upper lake.

LL is an interesting bass lake, there aren't a ton of bass, but the average size is quite impressive.

This lake really needs to have shad planted in it.  It has tons of plankton for the shad to eat.....It would crank up the bass fishery for sure.
